John Shackleton
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Shackleton has served as director of the Company since January 1999 and as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since July 2005. From November 1998 to July 2005, Mr. Shackleton served as President of the Company. From July 1996 to 1998, Mr. Shackleton served as President of the Platinum Solution division for Platinum Technology Inc. Prior to that he served as Vice President of Professional Services for the Central U.S. and South America at Sybase, Inc., as Vice President of Worldwide Consulting at View Star Corp., a document management imaging company, and he directed several consulting practices for Oracle Systems Corp.
P. Thomas 'Tom' Jenkins
Executive Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer
P. Thomas Jenkins is Executive Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer for Open Text™ Corporation of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. From 1994 to 2005, Mr. Jenkins was President, then Chief Executive Officer and then from 2005 to present, Chief Strategy Officer of Open Text. Mr. Jenkins has served as a Director of Open Text since 1994 and as its Chairman since 1998. In addition to his Open Text responsibilities, Mr. Jenkins is the Chair of the federal centre of excellence Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN). He is also an appointed member of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), past appointed member of the Government of Canada’s Competition Policy Review Panel and past appointed member of the Province of Ontario’s Ontario Commercialization Network Review Committee (OCN). Mr. Jenkins is also a member of the board of BMC Software, Inc. a software corporation based in Houston, Texas. He is also a member of the University of Waterloo Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, GRAND, the federal research centre of excellence for digital media, a director of the C.D. Howe Institute, a director of the Canadian International Council (CIC) and a director of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE). Mr. Jenkins received an M.B.A. in entrepreneurship & technology management from Schulich School of Business at York University, an M.A.Sc. in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto and a B.Eng. & Mgt. in Engineering Physics and Commerce from McMaster University.
Paul McFeeters
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. McFeeters was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Company on June 1, 2006. Mr. McFeeters has more than 20 years of business experience, including previous employment as Chief Financial Officer of Platform Computing Inc. (a grid computing software vendor), Kintana, Inc. (a privately-held IT governance software provider), as well as President and CEO positions at both MD Private Trust and Municipal Financial Corporation. He holds a Certified Management Accountant designation and attained a B.B.A (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from York University, Canada.
Eugene Roman
Chief Technology Officer
Eugene Roman is a seasoned, hi-tech executive with 28 years of global experience in the IT, infocom, network design and R&D sectors. He has a multi-skilled background in advanced technology, computer science, business development and finance. In his role as Chief Technology Officer at Open Text, Mr. Roman works closely with all major areas of business to evolve and develop Open Text products.
Previously, Mr. Roman was Group President, Bell Systems & Technology. In this role, Mr. Roman led the effort to enable breakthroughs in productivity and performance, and deliver current and next generation services more efficiently by harnessing the power of Bell's network. Prior to his appointment as Group President, he held the position of Chief Information and Technology Officer. In this role, Mr. Roman led the integration of the critical resources of IS/IT, Technology and Process to better deliver innovative programs, achieving short- and long-term benefits.
Mr. Roman started his career with Nortel in 1981 upon graduation from the Faculty of Management Studies at the University of Toronto. He has worked in various groups within BCE including Finance, Information Systems, R & D, and Corporate Office with significant international assignments in Asia, Europe and South America. Eugene is on the Board of Directors of a community based financial institution and has supported its evolution to an e-business.
Eugene holds a Bachelor's Degree in economics, a Master's Degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Management Accountant.
Gordon Davies
Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary
Gordon A. Davies joined Open Text Corporation as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary in September 2009. He also serves as the Corporation’s Compliance Officer.
Prior to joining Open Text, Davies was the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Nortel Networks Corporation. During his 16 years at Nortel, Davies acted as Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary during 2008, and as interim Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary in 2005 and again in 2007. He led the Corporate Securities legal team as General Counsel – Corporate from 2003, with responsibility for providing legal support on all corporate and securities law matters, and spent five years in Europe supporting all aspects of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business, ultimately as General Counsel, EMEA. Prior to joining Nortel, Davies practiced securities law at a major Toronto law firm.
Davies holds an LL.B and an MBA from the University of Ottawa, and a BA from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals.
James Latham
Chief Marketing Officer
James Latham has more than two decades of executive leadership and global marketing experience in both start-up and large public software development and integration organizations. Prior to joining Open Text, James led the Marketing Strategy team for worldwide brand management, awareness, perception, and digital relationship marketing at McCann Worldgroup®, a $700 million division of media services conglomerate Interpublic Group® (IPG). Over the past seven years he planned, built, executed, optimized, and analyzed digital advertising campaigns across a wide variety of Microsoft® B2B products and services including Enterprise Content Management, Digital Asset Management, and communications software products. James was also Vice President of Marketing and Marketing Strategy for several large and growth-oriented software companies including IBM® and Lotus Development®. At Open Text, James is focused on integration and collaboration between various marketing groups and the Chief Strategy Office as the Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing.
James brings broad and deep experience and expertise in all marketing disciplines to Open Text. From sales support through corporate marketing organization and brand strategy, James has a unique ability to assess companies' existing marketing and to establish a leadership position using traditional and new media capabilities. He has lectured at Northeastern University and in global marketing for the Masters in International Management.
